Build for sustainable future
Housing and transportation are the foundation of a thriving, sustainable city, and they must meet the needs of our communities both now and in the future. As your City Council representative, I will work to ensure that Portland’s growth is aligned with our commitment to sustainability, affordability, and smart infrastructure investments.
Here’s how we’ll build a sustainable future together:
-
Repair and Modernize Infrastructure
Portland faces a $4 billion maintenance backlog, and it's time to get serious about repairing and maintaining our roads, sidewalks, and bike lanes. In District 2, this means prioritizing key routes such as the Broadway Corridor, Sandy Boulevard, and North Portland’s major thoroughfares. By creating safer, more efficient connections, we can improve the flow of traffic and make transit, biking, and walking more accessible for everyone. -
Address Our Housing Emergency
To tackle our housing crisis, we need to fast-track permitting for mixed-use developments, conversions, and multifamily units, especially those near transit or that include affordable and inclusionary housing. By streamlining the permitting process for all developments, we reduce uncertainty and cut the time it takes to get new housing projects off the ground. This is key to making sure our city has the housing it needs for all income levels and reducing the pressures driving up housing costs. -
Invest in Energy Efficiency and Weatherization
I will work to ensure that Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) resources are wisely invested in weatherizing our existing buildings, particularly schools, public buildings, and homes of low-income residents. By making our buildings more energy-efficient, we will help reduce energy costs and protect Portlanders from the extremes of climate change, while also helping developers and homeowners access state and federal funds for retrofitting. -
Foster a Transportation-Positive Culture
Portland must lead the way in building a transportation culture that promotes alternatives to single-occupancy vehicles. I will support programs like bike buses, community events, and incentives that encourage residents to try biking, walking, and public transit. We will make alternative transportation fun, accessible, and safe for everyone.
By focusing on these priorities, we will build a city that not only meets the challenges of today but thrives in the future. Together, we can make Portland a place where people of all backgrounds can afford to live, work, and enjoy a sustainable and vibrant community.
